Midnight Basketball(MBB) kicked off it's 3rd season on June 22 with old friends and new! Over 150 participants came from all over the county and a few beyond. To see lots of pictures from the first night click on: http://picasaweb.google.com/midnightbasketball/MBB2007

It's not too late to play, but you must have a parent come to sign your registration form and bring $10. High school boys play at Shelby Middle School, girls are at Boys & Girls Club and the middle school boys play at Shelby City Park. (June 29 the middle school boys will play at Shelby High for one night only due to a scheduling conflict.) MBB begins at 8:30 pm and goes until midnight.

CommUnity thanks Project Safe Neighborhood, Shelby City Park, Shelby Middle School, Boys & Girls Club, Chick-fil-A, and Wal-Mart for making MBB possible. And a special thanks to all the coaches and volunteers who come out each friday night because they care about kids.

SHELBY — With the help of Project Safe Neighborhood, CommUnity is able to provide it’s third year of Midnight Basketball — and its kick-off event is tonight.
The program — which has more than 200 participants this year — is a competitive and fun way for youth around Shelby to spend their Friday nights. Marta Holden, CommUnity’s director, said the number of participants grows every year, as well as what the program can offer. Currently the program has three divisions, high school boys, middle school boys and girls.
"We’ve got tons of volunteers and coaches," Mrs. Holden said.
Midnight Basketball will be at three locations for the next six Fridays — the final night will be open to the community to come and support the players.
The program is $10 and includes snacks and a jersey. There’s still time to register at the door tonight, but organizers will need a parent’s signature. For more information call Marta Holden at (704) 484-1080.
